Your Solicitor
When seeking advice for your church or charity, you want to be sure that your solicitor understands what your church is all about and what you are trying to achieve. You will receive personal service and attention from Alan Holloway, Director of Diakoneo Legal Services Limited. Alan has served in many areas of church life. In his professional capacity, he has guided churches through a variety of complex and straightforward transactions. Alan's primary focus in his early career was on property law, and he has a particular grasp of the specific issues relating to church property transactions (including sale and purchase) and title deeds. Alan has also diversified into matters of charity structure, and has significant experience of assisting churches of various sizes and types through the process of transitioning from an unincorporated voluntary association to a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (“SCIO”). This involves navigating the forms and procedures of the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (“OSCR”) and transferring all the property and other assets of the church to the SCIO. In recent years Alan has become thoroughly acquainted with the Register of Persons holding Controlled Interests in Land, which can have considerable compliance implications, especially for unincorporated churches.
